Senior Health Center

At The Medical Center of Aurora's Senior Health Center, we offer short-term intensive hospital-based psychiatric treatment for patients age 55 and older. Our team provides physical and emotional support to help overcome behavioral health crisis. Through treatment, we aim to get patients back to functioning in their daily lives and restoring independence.  

Behavioral Health Conditions We Treat:

• Severe depression
• Suicidal or homicidal feelings
• Assaultive behavior or ideas that pose a threat to others
• Potential or actual self-mutilating behavior
• Acute onset or intensification of agitated behaviors

• Acute onset or intensification of delirium, disorientation or hallucinations

Senior Health Center Services

Upon admission to the center, patients undergo a comprehensive psychiatric and physical assessment. Then, an individual care plan is developed. The plan will likely include one or more of our therapy services (group, physical and recreational/occupational), as well as family counseling, nutritional counseling, medication and relapse prevention.

The Senior Health Center features many services to help make your stay as comfortable as possible, including:
